Dermoneural Reflexology - Clavitherapy

by Chiquita Hessels

Incredible!  That’s all I can say about the course I had the privilege of participating in.  Not only was I one of 9 participants to learn this technique, but we were the first in the ‘world’ outside the medical field (physicians & specialists) to learn this technique.  Wow!

In class, we were able to witness the body ‘coming back alive’ when Dr. Barbasiewicz worked on volunteers who have hopes and dreams of becoming ‘healthy’ again.  First we met a woman who had a stroke 2 years ago and is confined to a wheel chair.  She has paralysis on the left side of the body, a ‘glazed’ eye, drooped left side of mouth and her hand and foot was ice cold.  After her first treatment her body responded.  Heat was brought back to the hand and foot, and we watched as her eye became clear and the most beautiful smile was seen as the muscles in her mouth were stimulated and working again.  She was able to open her hand and move her thumb as well.  We also watched a women who had back surgery 5 years ago (who has become dependant on Morphine as the pain in her back is still excruciating) dance without pain for the first time in those 5 years - after only 3 sessions.  The list goes on.

The possibilities of helping those with MS, Neuroma, pain, addictions, early stage cancer, etc. are endless.  I look forward to continuing my learning process and trust that I will always keep ‘ego’ at bay as I strive to help those that come to me for treatment.

Clavitherapy is a dermo-visceral, non-invasive skin therapy used in psychological and neurophysiological rehabilitation. It relieves the stress on the central and peripheral nervous system by regulating the electric potentials of the body. It restores lost conduction among the nerves in the body in order to increase blood circulation to the affected areas to promote the body's ability to self regulate and self heal. Clavitherapy treatments are performed using clavicles (latin: clavus, nail) by stimulating the skin in specific zones and points, as used in acupuncture.”
